By creating an account or using SweetScale (“we”, “us”, or “the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to all of these terms, you may not access or use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.

2. Description of Service

SweetScale is a recipe library and scaling calculator designed for home bakers and small dessert businesses. The Service allows you to browse recipes, scale ingredient quantities, track ingredient prices, build shopping lists, and save your own recipes. Certain features require a paid subscription, which includes a free trial period as described on the subscription page.

3. Accounts

You must provide a valid email address and create a password to use certain features. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password, and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized account access.

4. Subscriptions and Billing

• A paid subscription unlocks premium features such as shopping lists, ingredient price tracking, and other tools. The current price is displayed on the subscription page.
• Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe, our payment processor. You authorize recurring charges until you cancel.
• A free trial is available to new subscribers. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription automatically converts to a paid plan.
• You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain access until then.
• All payments are non-refundable except where required by applicable law.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any local, state, or international law.
• Upload, post, or share content that is inaccurate, harmful, or infringes on someone else's rights.
• Attempt to access, tamper with, or disrupt the Service's security, servers, or data.
• Use bots, scrapers, or automated tools to access the Service without our permission.
• Resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to the Service without authorization.

6. User Content

Any recipes, prices, or other content you submit to the Service remain your property. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive license to store, display, and process it as needed to operate the Service for you. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to any content you upload.

7. Intellectual Property

The Service's design, logo, software, and curated recipe content are owned by SweetScale and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, or distribute any part of the Service without our written permission.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Recipe scaling results are estimates and should be verified by you before use. We are not responsible for any culinary or financial outcomes resulting from use of the Service.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, SweetScale and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
